December 28, 2004. Guest Speaker, Rotarian Win Brown, presented a fascinating view of NBHS's positioning as a premier medical facility

that shares its expertise in real time with other campuses within

its network. I can recall wearing a yellow hat during the hospital's

last build-out and serving hot coffee in one of the hospital's construction areas, never imagining then that time and space could be compressed such that our north Berkshire geography would no longer

separate us from centers east of Rte. 91. Thank you, Win, for your

enlightening presentation.

February 26: Service Above Self Dinner. North Adams Rotary President Bryon Sherman

provided President Danielle with information of Area 1's February 26,

Dinner/Dance and SAS award and auction at Pittsfield Country Club that will begin

at 6:00 P.M. Peter West, Chairman of the SAS Dinner from North Adams, intends

to schedule an organizational meeting for all clubs in Area 1 to participate,

particularly in two areas - 1. designating one representative from each club to

be on the selection committee for the SAS award. Nominations are due in by

February 1 (forms have been e-mailed). The selection committee will meet the first

week of February to select this year's recipient, and -2. procuring auction items -

this year's auction proceeds will benefit RI's Alliance For Smiles, an offshoot of

RotoPlast. Bridget Burns of Alliance for Smiles will be presenter. Last year's

auction raised nearly $3,500 for the Mali-Well project. More details will be

forthcoming shortly.
